Special visit from a special class mate

We were surprised to see Emma Z come in before the end of the day to visit us today - straight from her new school. She joined us for a poem activity and sat on the mat for the end of the day.

The children were so excited to see her again, asking lots of questions and giving her a big hug!

Thank you for visiting us - we miss you and hope you are having a great time in your new school!

Baking with Mrs Barlow

To celebrate our last Wednesday morning with Mrs Barlow for the term, she planned a fantastic baking activity where we could use our new knowledge about capacity.

So well behaved in the staffroom, engaged in the baking activity.

Cleaning up after all our baking fun!

Cooper had a great idea to write a message to keep our cake safe
"Please don't touch - From Cooper."

Now to wait until it is baked. But will it taste any good?

I can read, write and find the word 'for'

One of our reading activities is to Read, write, and find a new word from our reading book.

Today the Zebras were learning 'for'.

Jayjay and Taylor did a great job reading, writing and finding the word 'for' in their book "My clothes".

This activity helps students to identify and remember new high-frequency words.

Caught in the act helping others

Emma is very good at logging in to Reading Eggs.
She is so clever, she is also able to help others to log in.
Another student snapped this shot during reading time today.

Well done for showing cooperation in class.

Another great Syndicate Assembly!

On Friday Room 14 hosted our syndicate assembly. Different classes shared art and writing they had done. Room 14 shared the Māori language they have been learning and introduced themselves in Te Reo.

Congratulations to Sorsha and Roman for receiving certificates for their efforts in the classroom.

Well done Roman for showing Respect to your classmates.
'Mahi pai!' Sorsha for making a positive start to your learning in Room 3

Music Lessons with Mrs Barlow

We had a blast in our music lesson with Mrs Barlow.
We listened to traditional Tongan music and talked about how music from our own culture is really important to our sense of identity and makes us feel like we belong.

Then we got to try some different instruments and play along with the music. We sounded fantastic!

Emma M and Sophie rocking out on the guitars
while Taylor patiently waits for her turn.

Jayjay and Roman playing along to the music.

Lookin' Good

Easy Blog Photo

Cooper was practising his floating with a help of a pool noodle this week. This helps to build up confidence to float on your belly and practise the kicking skills needed for freestyle swimming.
Great work Cooper!

Learning The Backstroke

Easy Blog Photo
Amanda was so excited to learn how to do the backstroke in swimming today. She confidently lay back in the water and held onto a flutter board for support. She made big backwards arm circles as she kicked her way across the pool. Keep up the great work Amanda!

It is great to see you here. Our students will be working hard all year and this is a fantastic way for them to share their learning and achievements with you all. Make sure you visit regularly and leave a comment so we know that our hard work is being enjoyed and appreciated. If you are a savvy blogger, you could come in and help the students to add content for this blog too. If you are interested, please let Mrs Sands know.
